JAKARTA - Aquaculture industrial company PT Central Proteinaprima (CPRO) has acquired Florida-based genetical shrimp breeding company Shrimp Improvement Systems LLC (SIS), an Indonesian official said here Thursday."The decision to acquire the world largest shrimp seedling producer was made as SIS has already had selective and successful breeding program which can improve resistency against disease sustainably," corporate secretary Hendrik Silalahi told the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX).
SIS also has a method to improve shrimp seedling which is free from pathogen and has markets in more than 20 countries, he said.
The acquisition serves CPRO`s strategic move to increase its position in corporate business vertical integration structure which in the long run can strengthen operational activity and global coverage.
