Print This Page Palin calls for ban on ocean fish farms
ALASKA - Governor Palin wants Alaska's congressional delegation to go after a five-year ban on new ocean fish farms. Palin's request coincides with an effort by the Bush administration to implement a federal law encouraging fish farms in federally controlled waters of three to 200 miles offshore.
Under Alaska law, fish farming is illegal in waters closer to shore around the state. Former Governor Frank Murkowski also asked for a five-year ban on allowing any ocean fish farms off Alaska.
