LAHORE - Japanese Agriculture Minister Toshikatsu Matsuoka has assured Pakistan of Tokyo’s full support in implementing the drip irrigation system and maintenance of quality standards in fish farming. He gave this assurance to Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture Sikandar Bosan, whom he met at the farm leaders’ talks on the first day of the 31st Cairns Group Ministerial Meeting here on Monday.
After the meeting, Bosan told the media the efficiency in irrigation water use was 45 per cent in Pakistan, which could be doubled to 90 per cent with the help of drip irrigation. This, he added, would practically mean doubling the quantity of water available for irrigation.
