Print This Page Clear labelling essential on fish products
UK - In response to the publication of the ‘Survey in the production method and geographic origin of fish’ by the Food Standards Agency, Sid Patten, chief executive of Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation, said:
“It is extremely important to give consumers the correct information to allow them to make informed purchasing decisions.
“Just as important, Scotland’s salmon farmers are extremely proud of the fish they produce having invested hugely in product quality over many years.
“As our industry has advocated clear labelling over the course of many years, we would be delighted to work with the Food Standards Agency, retailers and others to emphasise the qualities of farmed fish, thus ensuring a fairer deal for consumers and producers alike,” he added.
