Barton on the board
AUSTRALIA - Gaven based clean water and biotech company Cumminscorp has announced the appointment of former Queensland Government MP Tom Barton to its board.Mr Barton, who retired from politics last year, is a former industrial relations and sports minister, has been appointed as a non-executive director.
His appointment follows the listed aquaculture company's move out of administration.
Cumminscorp's chief executive officer Warren Greiner said that during his time in parliament in both the Beattie and Goss Governments between 1995 and 2006, Mr Barton focused heavily on industry development.
"During his environmental and heritage portfolio, he saw the urgent need for water remediation and believes Cumminscorp technology has much to contribute," he said.
Last month, Robert Simes, a former Santos director replaced Cumminscorp founder Ian Cummins as chairman.
On April 13, the fish and water tank producing company, which has more than 1500 shareholders, moved out of voluntary administration and now operates under a deed of arrangement that will see creditors receive all money owed to them over the next two years.
