US - Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during April 2007 was 42,965 tons, down 21 percent from April 2006, but up 5 percent from the previous month.
April 2007 Catfish Feed Deliveries Down 21 Percent from Last Year
Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during April 2007 was 42,965 tons, down 21 percent from April 2006, but up 5 percent from the previous month. Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 40,998 tons, down 22 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 1,967 tons, down 11 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.
April feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 19,217 tons, down 21 percent from last year and accounted for 47 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in April and their comparison to the previous year were: Alabama with 8,565 tons, down 33 percent; Arkansas with 8,029 tons, down 19 percent; and Louisiana with 1,690 tons, down 13 percent.
