Fisheries cast nets with Spain
VIET NAM - Viet Nam and Spain have agreed to step up co-operation in the fisheries industry following the signing of a memorandum of understanding in HCM City on Thursday.The MoU was inked by Deputy Minister of Fisheries Luong Le Phuong and Secretary General Juan Carlos Martin Fragueiro of Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The two sides will work toward promoting sustainable development of the fisheries, aquaculture and seafood trades of each country through co-operation in related techniques, technologies and surveillance activities.
A joint committee for co-operation will be set up to monitor the execution of the MoU and broaden bilateral co-operation.
New trade associations
Viet Nam Seafood Exporter and Processors (VASEP) has set up two new associations based on VASEP Shrimp Committee and VASEP Freshwater Fish Committee.
VASEP Shrimp Association (VSA) and VASEP Freshwater Fish Association (VFFA) will have offices in VASEP headquarters in HCM City, the company announced.
Members of the two associations are producers, processors and exporters of shrimp and freshwater fish who have agreed to co-operate to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese shrimp and freshwater fish products.
