Fish Breeding in Paddy Fields Encouraged
03 July 2007NORTH KOREA - Fish breeding in paddy fields is being encouraged in co-op farms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Various farms in Pyongyang have recently released more than 500,000 fries in paddies.
The farms are taking necessary measures in conformity with technical requirements in fish culture.
Co-op farms in Taedong County, South Phyongan Province are dynamically culturing fish in paddy fields in close connection with the Fish Breeding Guidance Bureau.
They are making puddles and fishways in the selected paddies to breed various species of fish including carps and crucian.
The Kupho Co-op Farm in Hwangju County, North Hwanghae Province has bred fries in vast acreage of paddies every year, thus considerably raising the per-hectare yield of rice and fish production.
