CHILE - I&J, a division of AVI, recently invested in a joint venture with a Chilean technology-based company to farm red abalone in Chile. It is hoped that annual production will reach 147 tons within 3 years. I&J expects to invest some $2-m in the project which will be established in the quiet waters of an island south of Chile.
