Country Bird ventures to fish farming

ZAMBIA - Prominent poultry producer Country Bird is apparently venturing into fish farming.

The company, which operates in South Africa, Botswana and Zambia, says that the demand for protein is strong, and that it is confident the growth trend would continue.

Country Bird CEO Kevin James says the company is investigating fish farming in Zambia, and another chicken operation in Namibia.

The company anticipates starting a tilapia farm on the Zambezi in Zambia and a breeding, broiler and abattoir operation in Namibia.
