Scholarship to strengthen and cultivate aquaculture R&D

NORWAY - A new ‘talent’ award, designed to inspire skilled students and young scientists, has been launched by nutrition specialist EWOS innovation.

The award is intended to inspire skilled students and young scientists with knowledge and ideas, who wish to build positive research relationship between science and industry in the aquaculture sector.

Dr. Per Olav Skjervold, Managing Director of EWOS Innovation, said the award was aimed at increasing interest for industrial R&D and developing future benefits for the aquaculture industry.

Prospective candidates would  need to demonstrate a special interest for the aquaculture industry, primarily within the areas of fish nutrition, raw material or feed production.

The award comprises a diploma and prize money of up to NOK 50.000 . There would also be potential for co-operation with EWOS Innovation with respect to further development and commercial realisation.

The criteria for qualifying for the award is based on:

  • Outstanding study grades or project evaluation.
  • Delivered projects (reports, Master’s- or PhD-thesis)
  • Project description of planned projects or innovations
The award will be granted twice a year – in August and in January – based on incoming applications or nominations of candidates. This first award will be presented in January 2008.
