Print This Page Mediterranean tuna threatened by EU aid, Asian investment
EU - European Union subsidies and heavy investment from Asia are leaving Mediterranean stocks of tuna at crisis levels, conservation group WWF said Tuesday. The Japanese and Australian fishing industries are combining with trawlers from EU countries to plunder already depleted stocks of tuna, WWF said in presenting a new report by a Spanish-based tuna-farming consultancy.
