US dumping tax on two shrimp exporters

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that a review by the US department (DOC) found that the Viet Hai and Grobest shrimp export companies showed no signs of dumping in the US and would therefore be awarded the task break.

Six other Vietnamese shrimp exporters will have their duties remain at 25.76 percent.

Shrimp, Vietnam’s key seafood export, has accounted for 44 percent of the country’s $3.6 billion in total export turnover over the last 12 months.

The US, which was once the biggest export market for Vietnam, fell to the third rank among the biggest export markets, after Japan and the EU.

Vietnam no longer imposes obligatory inspections on seafood exports to the US after analyses earlier this year proved that Vietnamese seafood was in line with international safety norms.

Accordingly, basa and tra catfish, shrimp and crab will now be exempted from inspections.
