Oyster shortage may be drought-related
25 September 2007AUSTRALIA - Oyster growers are mystified by a shortage of oysters, but concede that it could be related to drought conditions.

He says drought may be affecting the level of nutrients in the water.
"We've certainly been down in our food values because we do test for our food values and while they've come up recently, they have been down for a couple of months, so there's certainly some lower food values evident in the ocean that we work in," he said.
The growers say there is a national shortage.
An oyster marketer Bob Simmons says key growing areas around Australia are having problems but he thinks it is not just because of the drought.
