Print This Page Promotions to increase fish consumption
TURKEY - The Fish Promotion Group has enhanced its promotional campaign after undergoing a restructuring process in which exporter unions, the fishery products federation and fishery unions took part.
The Fish Promotion Group was established seven years ago by volunteers to increase fish consumption in Turkey. The new advertisements created by the group have been placed at fish sale points and will also be put up near hospitals and schools in coming days.
Fish Promotion Group Vice President Akın Özder told the Anatolia news agency that annual fish consumption per person was 22 kilos in European countries, 35 kilos in Japan and only 4.5 kilos in Turkey. He said they are educating people on the benefits of fish consumption in their first campaign and that to this end they have prepared thousands of handouts for distribution. Özder said the first target groups of the advertisements are children and the elderly.
