New blow as fish firm shuts
UK - Up to 20 people have lost their jobs as yet another Grimsby fish factory closes its doors.Staff at fish processing company 7 Seas Foods Limited, on the North Wall, Grimsby Docks, were told the company had ceased trading on Monday.
The firm - the trading name of Focus Technical Services Limited - is the latest casualty on the docks, following redundancies at Scotprime Seafoods earlier this month.
Workers at the three-acre site were told of the news by David Hodgson, of Bartfields Chartered Accounts, Leeds.
Mr Hodgson confirmed the company had gone into "liquidation" and had "effectively ceased trading", telling the Grimsby Telegraph: "The liability is far in excess of the assets and the owner has been trying to trade but has been unable to do so."
In January, Focus Technical Services Limited bought out established firm Seabay Quickfish after they made 100 people redundant.
