Print This Page Fisheries technology and new opportunities program to cost $6 million
CANADA - A $6-million fisheries technology and new opportunities program has been developed to provide support for harvesting, processing and marketing initiatives in the province’s fishing industrty.The program, part of the provincial government’s Fishing Industry Renewal Strategy, is hoped to help diversify and increase the overall viability of the province’s seafood sector.
"The program will put special emphasis on more efficient utilization of traditional species, better use of under-utilized species and enhanced value of fisheries resources," Fisheries Minister Tom Rideout said.
The maximum contribution for individual projects will ordinarily be up to $100,000. Projects initiated by non-profit institutions, associations or community groups, may be funded up to 100 per cent of cost, including labour, materials and supplies.
