Fish farm being built with Rs 3m to meet demand

LAHORE - City District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood Sunday directed officials of the livestock, agriculture and fisheries to adopt modern technology to ensure provision of agricultural products and meat to all people.

Talking to a delegation of nazims, councilors and political workers of rural union councils here at the District Nazim House here, he said steps were being taken to promote livestock and agriculture in the district to fulfill meat and vegetables requirements of the people.

He directed the executive district officer agriculture Muhammad Irshad to map out measures to start construction of modern fish farm at Kacha without any further delay. "This fish farm is being built at a cost of Rs 3 million to help support fish farming in the suburban areas of the city," he said, adding that free guidelines and technical assistance would be provided to the private sector in this regard.

"The government is providing poultry worth Rs 2 million to farmers on cheap rates," he said, adding that short courses would soon be started to train farmers on poultry keeping and management.
