World's Largest Wellboat Goes into Operation

NORWAY - The world's largest wellboat has been delivered to Rostein, one of Norway's leading salmon and smolt transporter.The RoMaster, a 72 metre-long vessel, has a well volume of 2,600m3 and the capacity to carry 400 tons of live fish with atop speed of 15 knots.

It vessel is fitted with a new generation of fish handling equipment including movable bulkheads, pressure loading and unloading, ultra large capacity grading equipment, an integrated Tendos vacuum pump system, a laboratory, a highly advanced system for water circulation, counting equipment from Aquascan, and a tank disinfection system.

It was built by Blaalid AS at its Maaløy-based yard and the total value of the contract exceeded 100 million NOK. More vessels of the same type are planned for construction, says the company.
