Disease May Force Marine Harvest to Move Chile Farms
31 December 2007CHILE - The world's biggest fish farmer Marine Harvest said that it may have to move some production following a fresh outbreak of disease in Chile.
Marine Harvest's third-quarter results in November were badly hit by losses from highly contagious ISA (infectious salmon anaemia). The disease is harmless to consumers but kills fish. Now plans to set up new facilities in a region where no disease had been found have been hit by a fresh outbreak at a fish farm belonging to Norway's Cermaq.
