Specialist Boat Joins Southern Star Fleet
AUSTRALIA - A specialised designed boat for the kingfish industry has been launched at the Port Lincoln marina.
Currently, undergoing sea trials, the vessel will be used on Southern Star Aquaculture's Kingfish operation in Fitzgerald Bay, Whyalla.
According to the Port Lincoln Times, Lyndon Giles, Director of Southern Star Aquaculture said the new boat would be a valuable addition to the company's fleet
The 13.5-metre “Southern Star” has taken 12 months to develop. Its specific design will improve workability and efficiency in what is a specialist aquaculture enterprise.
The boat's key features include: a wider, flush deck and a setup appropriate for harvest and net changing.
Ceduna Steel Fabrications built the vessel. Neville Betts from the business said the project “certainly was a challenge”.
