Redundancies at Fish Company

A fish processing factory in Glyngøre Denmark is to lose 115 jobs in fillet production as the operation is to be offshored to Koszalin in Poland.

The company, Royal Greenland A/S, which employs a total of 418 people said that the reason for the redundancies in Glyngøøre is to move part of the production to a low wage country with the aim of increasing competitiveness.

The management, however, said it hopes in a medium-long term perspective to increase the production left in Glyngøre.

Most of the people being made redundant are women over 45 years old.

The local jobcentre in Skive has called for extra funding from the Ministry of Employment to re-employ the women.

The extra funding will be used to fund continuing vocational training and upskilling.
