AUSTRALIA - Adelaide University is expanding its veterinary science school to accommodate increasing livestock industry demands.
"We have major developments going on in aquaculture; we have issues around biosecurity and the contribution by rural industries to the local economy of South Australia is very significant. It's very important for us to support that industry by establishing what they perceive to be a need for a vet science school," said Acting Vice-Chancellor Fred McDougall.
According to ACB news, the school has it received three times more applications than it can accommodate. It will now offer around 50 study places to help meet demand from both students and industry in South Australia.
