Catfish Feed Deliveries Rise
Foodsize catfish feed delivered otaled 7,209 tons, up 24 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 225 tons, up 31 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.
December feed delivered to Alabama catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 3,103 tons, up 49 percent from last year. Alabama accounted for 43 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in December and their comparison to the previous year were: Arkansas with 506 tons, down 15 percent; Louisiana with 133 tons, down 38 percent; and Mississippi with 1,645 tons, up 40 percent from last year.
