The certification is believed to be a first for the Australian Seafood Industry.
On achieving this milestone Andrew Ferguson (CEO) said: "ABA Ltd aims to be a leader and innovator not only in our production but also in how we go about our business."
ABA is a producer of high quality seafood with their farms operating from Elliston on the far west coast of South Australia.
And the auditing company Balance Carbon said that the area is a truly spectacular area with great natural beauty and the company has a strong commitment to the highest standards of environmental management.
"As we move to become Australia’s leading abalone producer we believe we need to provide leadership to the industry on the issue of greenhouse gas emissions. Being dependant upon the natural environment to produce a quality product we are committed to ensuring that we address the challenges of environmental care with our carbon footprint being a key element in that strategy," Mr Ferguson said.
Balance Carbon Managing Director, Dr Tim Moore (who comes with a background in marine ecology) said: "Balance Carbon are pleased to be able to help Australian Bight Abalone Ltd and the seafood industry in general move towards taking a greater stewardship role as users of these natural environments."
