New Facility to Fuel Export Expansion

KUALA LUMPUR - Protech Yu (Asia) a subsidiary of Goldis Bhd, is looking to expand its export market for its aquaculture produce by year-end.

The company is about to complete its new RM10 million integrated fish farm in Tanjung Malim, which offers processing, logistics and conducts research and development.

Speaking to The Edge Financial Daily, Colin Ng, Goldis head of corporate investment, said he expects the expansion of export markets for its aquaculture produce to start shortly.

“We aim to complete the facility by end of July this year and hope to see returns on investment next year,” Ng said.

Protech Yu started exporting the barramundi, a freshwater fish from Northern Australia, to Canada about four months ago. The barramundi is also exported to Singapore. The company eventually hopes to export the “jade perch”, a species of freshwater fish popular in Australia, and which Protech Yu is introducing to the Malaysian market.

“Environment technology is going to be big in the whole of Asia,” he added.

Protech is working with its Australian partner Fish Protech to market the “jade perch” under Protech Yu’s OM3 Fish brand.
