Print This Page Hatch Success Boost Salmon Prospects
VIET NAM - Around 225,000 salmon eggs have been hatched at Tuyen Lam Lake in Da Lat City. It is the first time at The Experimental Research Station for Coldwater Fish has successfully hatched fry in this area.
The eggs were imported from Finland and the hatch rate is estimated at 90 per cent. It is a positive boost for VietNam's growing aquaculture industry and will help to reduce the volume of imported fresh salmon.
Industry observers says that there are implications for the local economy too. It could give rise to re investment in fish farming and the development of salmon processing facilities in the Lam Dong and the Kontum Province's located in the Central Highlands - a prime site for such activities.
