Tra Exports Booming from Dong Thap Province
12 March 2008VIET NAM - Eight seafood processing plants in Dong Thap, a province in the southern region of Viet Nam exported 9,900 tonnes of seafood in the first two months of this year.
Mostly exporting pangasius, the plants generated a total revenue of US$30.65 million, 90.9 per cent over last year. according to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Along with the five plants that have expanded their capacity, the province plans to set up another eight new projects to increase the production of pangasius to 200,000 tonnes per year.
This year, these plants are expected to bring in around US$200 million of export turnover.
