Farmed Fish Market Stable

Monitoring of one of the biggest public markets in Davao City this week showed that prices are holding firm, but not rising in spite of the Easter holidays.

Speaking to the SunStar, Rosella Mahusay, a fish vendor at the Agdao Public Market for more than 30 years, said that farmed product prices do not usually increase during Holy Week.

"The prices of tilapia and bangus remain the same. Prices of aquaculture products usually remain the same even though demand rises in Holy Week or Christmas. We only increase the prices if there's a limited supply," she said.

Prices of bangus are now pegged at P90, P100, P110, and P120, depending on sizes, while tilapia costs P60-65 per kilogram.

Roselyn Sepro, a vendor of shellfish and seaweeds, also said that prices of such products are not expected to increase during Holy Week.
