Print This Page Shrimp Exports Rise
BRAZIL - A sharp rise in shrimp exports from the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte has helped to boost exports by 8.5 per cent in the first two months of this year.
The state government said that foreign sales reached US$ 72.4 million up to February, compared to US$ 66.7 million in the first two months last year.
One of the surprises in exports for the period was shrimp, which after several flat years, has once again taken off, posting significant growth over the previous year.
Expansion in the first two months of 2008 was 17.3 per cent over the same two months in 2007, with US$ 5 million in sales.
