DDC aquaculture project takes off in Abia
NIGERIA - The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has established an Aquaculture programme in Abia State as part of commission’s master plan to develop the Niger Delta Region.
The programme has already, organised 12-day international training/workshop on Aquaculture. The event was jointly sponsored by NDDC and Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to train stakeholders and participants on the objectives and rudiments of Aquaculture is in progress in the NDDC project office in Umorgu Okeikpe, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia.
State governor, Dr. Theodore Orji, said that Abia was working on plans to diversify its revenue generation strategies in line with the NDDC Master plan. He priased the new aquaculture programme and urged the commission to explore new areas of partnership with the state - like it has with Israel on this project.
At the opening of the workshop, his Deputy, Chris Akomas said that Abia has the right environment and resources to make the programme a success.
