SOWEDA Workshop Improves Aqua-Farm Skills
CAMEROON - Some 23 fish farmers from Meme Division completed a three-day workshop organised by SOWEDA Livestock and Fisheries Development Project.The workshop that took place recently at the Community Development School hall in Kumba, was coordinated by Mrs Lucy Nkumbe, SOWEDA's Chief of Service for the fisheries sector. She told Camnews that SOWEDA has assured fish farmers of a brighter future as they will soon benefit from the giant support of her service. SOWEDA is presently constructing a multi-million structure to keep a modern fish pond, a poultry farm, a slaughter house and a piggery at Barombi Kang in Kumba.
For three days, the participants were drilled on book-keeping, self-help participatory development, marketing techniques, training to manage cooperatives and Common Initiative Groups (CIGs), entrepreneurial skills and financial management.
Sudents attecnding the workshop commended the SOWEDA Livestock and Fisheries Development Project for organising sthe event. They said, was very timely. They also promised to match words with deeds by making sure that the knowledge acquired will be well implemented at the local level.
