Pahang Aquaculture Project Underway by June
MALAYSIA - Kuala Pahang is the chosen site for the first of four aquaculture projects that will rear freshwater fish.
The projects will costs RM10mil each and should all be operational by June, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“The test bed project in Sepang which started a year ago using proven technology from Australia has harvested a good yield. All participants in this project will stand to receive a minimum payment of RM500 in the form of a dividend," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
A report for news service the Star On-Line said that authorities were currently identifying other suitable locations in Johor, Kedah and Kelantan for similar ventures.
“We are also looking at exporting these freshwater fishes as there is a high market demand overseas,” he said after launching the project here yesterday.
