US Abalone Deal Nets $100m for Eyre Company

AUSTRALIA - A five-year export deal worth more than $100 million, has been secured by Elliston-based Australian Bight Abalone.

The business, located on the Eyre Peninsula, is one of only a few off-shore abalone farms in the country and has started harvesting commercially this year.

The company's chief executive officer Andrew Ferguson told ABC News that it will send up to 300 tonnes of abalone a year to the US.

"The major market traditionally for the last decade has been into Asia and significantly into Hong Kong and China," he said.

"We've always wanted to open up other markets or reopen other markets.
