Print This Page Academy of Natural Resources to Open in Florida
US - An Academy of Natural Resources based in Lee County Florida is to open in the Autumn offering courses in aquaculture and other environmental and water management related studies.
Island Coast High School in Lee County has joined forces with University of Florida and South Florida Water Management District to launch the Academy.
The Academy will blend college prep courses and career track options.
The Academy will have more than 5000 gallons of tanks and aquariums where the students will research raise market and sell fish, including tilapia and African Cichlids.
Island Coast High School said the students will be designing habitats, testing water quality, troubleshooting and other hands on activities.
"Students who attend the Academy will have a strong concentration on the sciences. We look forward to a working partnership with members of the business community," the school said.
