VIET NAM - The Vietnamese Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) is strengthening its ties with seafood processing factories to meet the financial challenges that are facing the industry.
The fresh alliance is helping to build catfish breeding areas and a market information exchange system as well as helping to control product hygiene and safety.
Notably, the Binh An Seafood Joint Stock Company (Bianfisco) is developing a research institute of catfish, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
The company said the Pangasius Bianfisco Vietnam Institute will be based in the Tra Noc II Industrial Zone in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, next to Bianfisco seafood processing plant.
The institute will specialise in researching breeding fish, fish food and technology serving seafood farming and processing in the Mekong Delta.
