SCOTLAND - The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation has welcomed the acknowledgement by First Minister Alex Salmond that Scotland’s fishing, farming and haulage industries require special support to survive the current fuel crisis.
At a meeting in Edinburgh today with the SFF, NFU Scotland and the Road Haulage Association in Scotland, the First Minister said he would put the key demands made by this new coalition to the Chancellor of Exchequer Alistair Darling to lever financial help for the three sectors.
Bertie Armstrong, SFF chief executive, said: "We welcome the support given by the First Minister, who will now back our request for an early meeting between our three industry sectors and the Chancellor.
