Ministers Open Doors
The Council of Ministers for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS) took the step in order to further improve insight into co-operation.
The ministers have gathered for their summer meeting in Växjö, Sweden, 25-27 June, under the auspices of the Swedish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers 2008.
All the participants, including journalists and others, will be allowed to sit in on the actual meeting of ministers as well as all of the other events organised during the summer meeting.
The ministers are hoping that their initiative will inspire other Nordic colleagues to follow suit.
This progress towards greater openness compares well with the EU system, which is often criticised for its lack of transparency.
MR-FJLS partially opened its summer meeting in Björneborg last year but has opted for complete openness this time in Växjö.
