CANADA - Police in Harbour Breton in Canada are investigating salmon poaching from Cooke Aquaculture's salmon pens.
According to reports in the Telegram RCMP officers are investigating several incidents of poaching from the salmon pens owned by Cooke Aquaculture in Belleoram.
The police say they do not know how long the poaching has been going on, or how many fish have been taken, but officers believe the number of fish taken is significant and that they are being caught with hooks and jigging lines.
Officers say anyone found in possession of the fish or caught removing fish from the pens will be charged with possession of stolen property as well as theft.
