UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - Emke Group and Rose Poultry are setting up the the first project of its kind in Al Ain.

Yousuf Ali MA, managing director of the Emke Group and Arne Lolholm Jensen, director of Denmark's Rose Poultry have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the project, according to Emke.

"Though we are one of the leading processed meat manufacturers with five units in India, this is our first such venture in the UAE and we are immensely pleased to tie up with such great brand as Rose, who not only enjoy huge popularity among the local consumers here but also follow the most stringent quality control practices," Mr Ali said after signing the agreement.

"Being a UAE-based company, we know the importance of keeping the high image of this great country and we are leaving no stones unturned to make this a model production facility, which will not only cater to the UAE markets but also to the entire Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) area," he added.

This fully halal unit will operate according to the certification standards of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) in the production of value-added meat products from chicken, beef, lamb and seafood.

The total planned investment in the first phase will be Dh300 million.

"This is our first processing unit outside the Europe and we are delighted to partner with Emke Group with whom we share a long standing business relationship and we think this venture will further strengthen our market share in this region," said Mr Jensen.

Rose Poultry produces around 290,000 chickens a day in Denmark at production facilities in Vinderup, Skovsgaard and Padborg.
