Scottish Shellfish Under New Management
Cameron joins SSMG from seafood processor Macrae Edinburgh Ltd, where he was operations director and deputy managing director. He has over 16 years experience in the seafood industry and was previously factory manager at Scot Trout Ltd.
SSMG supplies the UK multiple retail sector with premium quality mussels and oysters which are sourced from member farms on the west coast of Scotland and the northern isles.
Stephen Cameron said: "The shellfish sector has excellent potential for growth, given the quality of the products and their well-publicised health benefits.
"One of my first priorities will be to examine ways of developing the business through efficiency improvements and expanding our customer and product base."
This new development regime is already underway with recent investment at the company’s processing site in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, resulting in significant operational improvements.
"We intend to implement a rolling programme of development to ensure that SSMG maintains its position as one of the UK’s leading suppliers and processors of premium shellfish," said Mr Cameron.
