Print This Page Scottish Salmon Stock Goes up in Smoke
SCOTLAND, UK - Fire fighters looked on helplessly as a barge believed to be holding around £200,000 worth of salmon stock went on fire early this week.
According to Stornoway Gazette, the barge, which is owned by Lighthouse Caledonia and was berthed next to salmon cages in Loch Roag, Breasclete, was discovered ablaze around 1.20am on Sunday morning, when two fire units attended to try and extinguish the flames.
Unfortunately the weekend's stormy weather prevented fire fighters from accessing the barge which was about one mile from shore.
