Russia Steps Up EU Fish Restrictions
From January 1, only enterprises which have been approved by Russian inspectors will be allowed to sell their fish to the country.
The Russian Agriculture Control Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) announced about the new regulations in a meeting with the EU Commission last week, Interfax reports.
The new regulations will enable only the companies controlled and approved by Russian inspectors to export fish products to Russia. The measure is the same as previously imposed on Norwegian salmon exports.
The European Commission, have allowed the observers from the Russian Food Safety authority to discuss the new regulations at a meeting on November the 7th. The new list of accepted companies will come online on November the first this year.
