US - West Virginia's first inland salmon fishery has welcomed 28,000 rainbow trout to its production facility in Manhattan.
West Virginia Salmon and Trout President William R. Martin says thousands more trout and salmon fingerlings from a nearby hatchery in Mingo County will join this week's arrivals in Man in the coming weeks, reports the Daily Express.
The aquaculture company raises sustainable and environmentally friendly salmon and trout using water-recirculating technology and mountain water. The company says there are no hormones, antibiotics and other chemicals.
The company was formed in January with fisheries in Logan and Mingo counties. It is a subsidiary of Blue Ridge Aquaculture, based in Martinsville, Va.
