Ukraine's Fisheries Industry Expands

UKRAINE - Ukraine's State Statistics Committee has reported a 2.2 per cent increase in fisheries production by comparison with last year.

The committee says that Ukraine produced 175,000 tons of fish and other living aquatic resources.

According to the BsannaNews, fish capture reduced by 3.1% to 151.5 thousand tons (86.6% of total volume). The volume of production of other living aquatic resources posted 23.5 thousand tons, 1.6 times more against the relevant period in 2007.

The news agency reported that in waters of exclusive (maritime) economic zones of other states, Ukraine captured and produced 107.7 thousand tons (62%), 37.2 thousand tons (21%) in waters of Ukraine's exclusive (maritime) economic zone, in internal water reservoirs - 22.5 thousand tons (13%), in open part of the oceans - 7.6 thousand tons (4%).
