Hot Business for Malaysia's Enclosed Fish Farmers

Now after turning to rearing fish and crayfish (seawater lobsters) in enclosures, the 55-year-old aquaculture farmer from Kampung Trusan Tengah 2 here has earned many times more as compared to that amount, reports Bernama.

The news organisation says that another aquaculture farmer, 40-year-old Mohd Saldikun Ali Lampong, who rear crabs in enclosures, is able to produce some 200kg of crustacean meat a week worth RM15,000 a month.

Mohd Saldikun who hails from Kampung Tundun, Pulau Bum-Bum, along with 15 business partners also operates a crab processing mill that produces crab-based food via a company named Sukai Enterprise.

The company exports the crab meat to China. It also distributed other crab-based products like meat floss, curry puffs and popiah in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
