Ireland and Russia Agree on Fisheries Trade

IRELAND - Ireland recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Authorities of the Russian Federation, on trade in Fishery Products.

The Memorandum was signed on behalf of Ireland by Mr Peter Whelan, Chairman of the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority, the Competent Authority for Ireland.

Welcoming the signing, the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Tony Killeen TD, stated that this was an important development for Irish Fish exports as the Memorandum confirms that all fishery products exported to the Russian Federation are in compliance with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Russian Authorities. The signing of the Memorandum will assist in the further development of Irish fish and fishery products to the Russian Federation for the foreseeable future.

The Minister congratulated officials from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority and the Department of Foreign Affairs, whose collaborative efforts ensured a successful outcome to the discussions, leading to this Memorandum.
