Marine Parks to Hamper Aquaculture Growth

Clean Seas Tuna managing director Marcus Stehr has slammed the "clayton's marine parks" as "ineffectual" and "unreasonable", reported Port Lincoln Times this week.

"What's the use of locking up half the State's waters for these multi-use parks that don't really protect anything," Mr Stehr told the news organisation.

"It's a farce - if they want to protect marine bio-diversity they should do it properly, but there's no logic to this plan."

Despite the State Government's iron-clad commitment to the protection of existing aquaculture industries on Eyre Peninsula, including fish farming, oyster and mussel leases, there are fears that the parks process will undermine future growth.
