Print This Page Kien Giang Invest in Backbone of Aquaculture
VIET NAM - Kien Giang would experience vigorous economic growth if its administrators made aquaculture the backbone industry and improved the investment environment, President Nguyen Minh Triet advised at the end of his two-day visit to the southern province yesterday.
According to VietNamNews, he said that the 2,000ha dedicated to industrialised aquaculture was modest measured against the province’s 200km-long coast and 79,000ha for aquaculture farming.
Industrialised farming was a way to quickly narrow the rich-poor divide, he suggested.
The president asked provincial officials for policies that would help Kien Giang’s farmers during a working session yesterday.
An example was setting floor prices for seafood that would give farmers peace of mind.
