Print This Page Government Constructs Hatcheries in Delta State
NIGERIA - The federal government is constructing two fish hatcheries in Delta state, Dr Ogaranya Tabs-Tabowei, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, has said.
He said that the hatcheries were located at Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area and Oguma in Ndokwa- West LGA, reports the DailyTriumph.
According to the news organisation, Tabs-Tabowei stressed the determination of the state government to make Delta the largest fish-producing state in Nigeria.
He said that the state government had earmarked N100 million in this year’s budget for the resuscitation of the 240-hectare Aviara Fish Farm in Isoko South Local Government Area.
He said that another fish hatchery, with a capacity for producing one million fingerlings annually, had been constructed in Mosogar by Agip Oil Company and donated to the state government.
